Description

The new construction of the Fish and Wildlife Visitors Center is a 12,500 SF LEED gold project and a joint venture with GH Phipps. This visitor’s center was complete with administrative offices, bookstore, storage, mechanical, electrical and telecommunications rooms, conference room, lobby, exhibit hall, auditorium, bathrooms and classroom. Work included horizontal ground loop geothermal system, photovoltaics, mechanical mezzanine, glue-lams, wood TJI’s, tongue and groove wood ceilings, wood lay-in ceilings, storefront and curtain wall, steel stud TJI’s and framing, metal roofing, complete site development including onsite sanitary treatment, asphalt and concrete paving, parking lots, sidewalks, decorative concrete patio, stained concrete interior with animal track stamps, complete electrical, telecommunications and mechanical system and approximately $1 million worth of exhibits. All design and construction elements of this project were performed in accordance with LEED Gold standards. LEED Gold certification is currently pending.

The construction of the facility included cast in place concrete, cast stone masonry, structural steel framing, steel decking, cold-formed metal framing, rough carpentry, sheathing, glued-laminated exterior finish carpentry, interior architectural bituminous damp proofing, thermal insulation, panels, sheet metal flashing and trim and join expansion control.
